R. thinks/dreams about overpopulation

28. July 2006. – 01. October
MegnyitóOpening: July 27, 2006, 6:00 pm

The works being presented are mostly related to the group of works created between 1999–2003, and entitled R. Thinks About Over-population. Other pieces are connected to the concept through politically and aesthetically-minded objectifications of tension and release, and there will be new compositions made specifically for the exhibition.

The exhibition presents side by side the earlier objects – among them the „stretched” objects –, the drawings and the more recent performances and actions, which were realized in public spaces. In these actions, dreaming and thinking about overpopulation means not only reflecting on a source of political and economic tension, but is also evoking positive symbols of fertility and femininity.

With all her works, actions and videos, the sensitivity and assurance of the artist and the woman, Róza El-Hassan stands up for pacifism and antiracism, condemns exclusion and oppression.

The estate of Toma Sík, anarcho-pacifist activist, vegan conservationist and humanist who died in 2004, is an integral part of the exhibition. We remember the member of the Gush Shalom and the Alba Kör with the help of his protest signs, montages, collages and slogans, which promote the philosophy of „Hanemszép” and love.
