István Haász’s works examine the relation of surfaces to each other and their effect on space. Meanwhile he calls forth the possibilities hidden in the playfulness of light and shadow, and the storytelling power of colours. His works are closely linked to the traditions of constructivist painting, yet his methods of creation reveal new ways, which are far from the conventional.

With his coherent visual construction and meticulous pick of painterly tools, Haász raises questions of geometry. This way his relief-like objects step out from the even, into the three dimensional. He imbues his works with dynamic attributes, which nest the probability to shift from the surface and beyond. His monochrome colour-stories strengthen our attention of the perception of light and space. Yellow as the colour of free associations and black as the opposite of light appear on his latest works.

The rhythmic structures and the exceptional peacefulness that occur on his pictures suggests the sensation of stability. As a result of the display and the condensation of dynamic space changing, pulsing and intensive elements of forms emerge, in case of a closer inspection. The geometric shapes that are layered on top of each other, not only react with one an other but with the whole artwork.
