Collegium Helveticum Fellowship

határidődeadline: 2003. május 2.

The Collegium Helveticum of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ)

awards a Fellowship
supported by the ‘Zuger Kulturstiftung Landis & Gyr’

for artists from Middle or Eastern Europe who have specific interests in transdisciplinary co-operations.

The fellowship will be awarded either as a six-months residency (mid-October till mid-April) for one artist or two (independent)three-months residencies (October 2003 till December 2003 / March 2004 till May 2004).

The Collegium Helveticum is an academic institution for the dialogue between the sciences and between science, literature and the arts that, furthermore, seeks to include the public context actively in its work.

In the academic year 2003/2004 the Collegium Helveticum will organise seminars, workshops and symposia relating to the question “How controversial is good science?”.

The artist in residence is invited to develop an independent artistic project relating to this area of investigation, e.g. involving the topic of controversy or controversial positions and the intersection between art and science. The project will be integrated in the Collegium’s program in collaboration with its scientific staff and, depending on the artistic project, contacts will be established to other institutions within the ETHZ or the University of Zürich.

The artist-in-residence is expected to participate in the intellectual and social life of the Collegium Helveticum. This includes communication about artistic processes and an interest in the diverse disciplines and approaches and discussions at the collegium; a command of German and/or English is therefore essential.

The fellowship covers a fixed budget for travel and living expenses during the stay in Zürich. A working space at the Collegium Helveticum and within certain limits technical facilities and financial support for the project is also provided.

Artists interested should submit their application consisting of their curriculum vitae, a short outline of their motivation and their project as well as a documentation of their work (e.g. videos (no Betaformats), DVDs, publications, catalogues or other material) and two letters of recommendation before May 2nd, 2003
