Videonale—Festival for Video and Time-Based Arts

határidődeadline: 2022. június 30.

The call for entries for the 19th edition of the Videonale—Festival for Video and Time-Based Arts (March 31 – May 15, 2023 at Kunstmuseum Bonn) is open and we cordially invite artists and filmmakers, distributors, universities and galleries worldwide to submit their works for the competition.

The VIDEONALE.19 competition is open to all types of experimental time-based artistic works — single and multi-channel video, video installations, performances, sound art and virtual reality.

An international jury will review all submitted works and decide on participation. All selected works will be presented in a six-week exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Bonn and in an accompanying exhibition catalog. All selected artists will receive an exhibition fee and accommodation during the opening days, as well as the opportunity to participate in festival and networking events. The selected artists are explicitly invited to play a significant role in shaping the program on the opening days as well as during the duration of the exhibition period.

Submission criteria
There is no restriction on duration, content, theme or genre; however, works submitted must have been completed after January 1, 2020.

An administration fee will be charged for each submission (payable in conjunction with the submission process via PayPal): until June 14, 2022: 15 euros, after June 15, 2022: 20 euros.

Submission deadline: June 30, 2022, (11:59pm CET)

About Videonale
The Videonale is one of the oldest festivals for experimental video and time-based art worldwide and has been taking place in Bonn for almost 40 years. We see ourselves as a platform: for artists, whom we want to bring into an intensive exchange with each other, with our audience and with an expert audience; for a diverse audience, whom we want to acquaint with the various forms of expression and themes of video art; for an expert audience, who would like to discover new artistic positions at the Videonale and participate in the discussion of future issues together with them and us.

Videonale Award by Fluentum
We are pleased to have Fluentum from Berlin as a long-standing partner who, like us, is enthusiastic about contemporary art in the field of video and film and supports artists through exhibitions, co-productions as well as purchases for its own collection. At the opening of VIDEONALE.19, the Videonale Award by Fluentum, endowed with 5,000 euros, will be awarded by an independent jury from among all selected works.
