I write my own story instinctively, with a sewing needle, fabric and dye. With great interest i watch the change in my handmade sculptures as unpredictable colors appear on their surface through reduction using the ancient japanese raku technique.

In my textile work i patiently shape the pieces accidentally left over, and make them part of a new story. I use many ancient stitching techniques, and I am always curious to see what comes out of the needlepoint process: dream-landscapes, islands, plants, maps, figures, creatures, spontaneously formed secret codes that even I can’t decipher.

Through their creation I explore the nooks and crannies of all the mental landscapes to which my scultpures, needlepoint paintings and drawings belong. Each and every object shows a complete individual world. Message and work of art alike come to life on their own.

Stitching a single “stroke of the brush or pen” takes hours. a needlepoint picture takes days, months to complete. It is simultaneously a realistic and magical activity. I make progress with the help of the materials. The creative process teaches me what, when and how to experience as happiness.

It brings my childhood back, when the feeling of love and trust was complete. As i create, i am in control of the material, still I watch as anything can happen through each change. I give and gain freedom.
