The Ludwig Museum continues its practice of presenting the Hungarian exhibition of the Venice Biennale to the public in Budapest. In 2019, Tamás Waliczky’s exhibition Imaginary Cameras was on display at the Hungarian Pavilion. The artist’s animations and his series of 23 imaginary cameras, which, though designed with the use of digital technology, are analogue devices, offer an aesthetic experience and prompt the viewer to reflect on forgotten alternatives to technical developments which can, nonetheless, be revived by artistic thinking. Since Venice, Waliczky has designed an additional device and made a new animation, both of which will be on display for the first time at Ludwig Museum.
