The basic idea of the exhibition was inspired by Didi-Huberman’s thoughts and the books entitled Standing in front of pictures by László Földényi F. Both writers conclude that the understanding of an artwork is subjective, it is based on our personal knowledge, emotions and inner world.
The list of artworks presented here is subjective, with no demand of fullness. We solely invited artworks that we already knew, works that have important roles in the ouvre of the chosen artists’, nevertheless, possess an unquestionable beauty.
The artists were selected from three generations, and the starting point was the unusual use and combination of materials. The basically lyrically filled works do not only possess strong visuality but an expressive use of material, as well the complex stories surrounding the works.
Beside these thoughts, our choices did not take place on a linear thoughts, but rather personal stories, we present a chain of personal narration. The exhibition presents different media, from traditional oil on canvas to bone-construction, from plaster to izofoil.
