Propaganda is the same age as humanity, at least we have found examples since ancient times. On the other hand the press of Reformation, the Middle Ages and the early modern era lead to its heyday. In these times the flyer was born which was affordable and available for everybody, and founded the early version of the modern tally.
Áron Illés was aiming to make a series that salute the antitype of Middle Ages and early modern era, that react to the political and public actors and phenomena of today. He was interested in how a 16th century woodcut would look in which today’s ‘enemies’ are pictured instead of Luther. The subject is eternal only the characters change.
