Every day we get reminded of the uncertainty of the future, the consequences of urbanization, and capitalist production and its lasting damaging effects. The need to create order in the prevailing chaos and its responsibility puts more and more pressure on us.
We are perplexed about the effective methods through the frequently contradictory trends. We sometimes decide on “how to proceed” responsibly, sometimes conveniently. The clock is ticking, and the fear of the end of our world is permanent. Our everyday attempts may seem trivial, like careful groping or uncertain flapping.
We study and admire this “nature” in its ancient state, free of civilization. We long for it, we imitate it in both habit and form, but knowing its dangers, we face similar doubts as in our present age. Could we conceptualize our desires, or is it all just empty formalism? What is the role of the visual artist in the age of climate change?
