Rita Cserbik’s recent works focus on fruit, yet they are not still lifes in the classical sense. Fruits of the sun is a series of paintings based on the stylistic traits of abstract expressionism. In this universe, the viewer looks around in confusion: nowhere is there a recognisable spherical shape, a firm, fleshy flesh glistening in the sunlight. Apparently.
In Cserbik’s previous exhibition, titled Paints like that, presented at the end of last year, the viewer was confronted with gigantic canvases. After paintings stretched on a carved frame or nailed directly to the walls of Klauzál6 Project Gallery, full of sweeping gestures and brushstrokes that show traces of sweeping movements, Cserbik has now moved on to a new chapter, which will be shown for the first time to the audience of Telep Gallery.
