As Above, So Below – What’s Big in Small is an exhibition based on discursivity by the students of the Master’s programme in Contemporary Art Theory and Curatorial Studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts.
The project explores the functioning of the Hungarian contemporary art institutional system through four thematic approaches – community, prestige, elitism, resistance – presented through an exhibition of satellite events, mainly in the premises of the Studio of Young Artists Association (FKSE).
The exhibition attempts to model the butterfly effect of the institutional system, which is influenced by a series of personal or professional decisions. The participants in the institutional system are often forced to find spontaneous solutions to the problems that arise, and so in the last week of the exhibition, sub-projects will be spread out and pop up in different parts of Budapest.
As part of the exhibition, four sessions of community cooking will be organised as experimental events exploring the possibilities of community building and knowledge transfer with participating artists. Participants are Attila Bagi, Andrea Fajgerné Dudás and Márton Mózes Murányi.

It is essential to establish an appropriate dialogue and relationship between generations of artists, which will be embodied in two collaborative installations.

The participants in the art field will talk about the group cohesion factors, hierarchical or necessary selection mechanisms specific to the medium in an interview-based short film.
