Dandelion wreath. All so pretty, regular, super square, or perfectly round. A few pieces of climber, red, blue, yellow, green, harmonious iron provide the skeleton for the realm we play in. There are also rules: don’t scatter the sand elsewhere! On the slide, one at a time, put the buckets, shovels and moulds in place. No climbing over the fence.
We found a trail that was trampled by Ronnie the dog. We ran madly from the enemy. We built a world together, we decided how to live in it. While the game lasted, we wove a common velvet of our dreams, carefully covering the fast-spinning glass beads of our childhood.
The game goes on. The playground takes different forms. It can be pleasant or not. It can be new and adventurous, or familiar and homely, reflecting memories of our old playgrounds. An art colony is a space where participants build their imaginary worlds together. We are all bricks and walls and beams and reliefs on the ornate facade and bells on the belfry and voices in the birdsong. The time spent together, the living of the moment, the meeting of creative processes, draws a special velvet of art that certainly could not have been created in any other playground, with any other players. This is the story of the resulting exhibition.
