The traditional selection presents the theses of the most talented recent graduates of MKE. The exhibition gives a comprehensive overview of the art education at the university. A professional committee of graduates from all departments has selected the theses that best reflect the spirit of the institution and the vision of the young artists.
The selection includes works from the long-established departments of painting, sculpture, graphic design and inter-media, as well as the latest trends in graphic design, stage scenography and the work of the MKE’s unique national higher education programme for restoration. The newest degree course, Visual Art, will also be presented, with students experimenting with an interdisciplinary approach.
As university education progresses, students are given greater creative freedom. This freedom is coupled with a complexity of thought and a conscious crossing of genre boundaries in the theses. A well-done thesis is often a key piece of a young artist’s portfolio.
This year, 177 students graduated and more than twenty of their works are included in the Best of Diploma selection.
