The BLOCK-Art Cultural Association organized its twenty-first international symposium in Erdőszőlő between August 7 and August 17, 2025. During the art camp, the invited artists worked on the theme The Patience of the Cosmos, and their exhibition under the same title is on view at the MaMű Gallery.
The title of the theme carries an ambivalent mood – patience is slow and quiet, while the movement, birth, and destruction of the universe unfold with phenomenal energies. This contrast creates an intriguing tension. Cosmic processes and events take place over millions, even billions of years, proceeding independently of human will, desires, plans, and actions. Patience, on the other hand, is a human quality, personal in nature, shaped by the individual’s abilities. The cosmos and patience may seem like distant concepts, yet they are connected through the relationship between time and evolution.
Patience is not waiting, but a conscious trust in creation – the universe knows that everything happens at the right moment. This perspective can also be transformative in human life: letting go of control and settling into a greater order. Symbolically, the title speaks at once of infinite time, trust, and respect for the cycles of existence.
The works created embody the many facets of the theme – embracing scientific, spiritual, and religious dimensions, as well as the subjective approaches of individuals.
