Dorottya Vékony’s latest exhibition translates combat sports into the language of community, empathy, and female solidarity. Venus Mount – Matrial Art Club transforms the Longtermhandstand space into an alternative gym, where the emphasis is not on defeating your opponent, but on togetherness, resilience, and embracing vulnerability.
Porcelain boxing gloves, bandages with inscriptions, and photo and video works represent the power of “fragile resistance”: weapons of war become symbols of both vulnerability and strength. The grotesque, humorous, and empathetic female characters in the opening photo, EMPOW Club, evoke different life situations and inner roles, which can also be read as self-portraits of the artist.
Building on Vékony’s former identity as a kickboxer, the exhibition opens up a space for experiencing community support, solidarity, and female cooperation.
