“But everything is there, everything is the same. Were you surprised, old man?” We can read this excerpt in Géza Ottlik’s short story Everything is There, published in 1968 by Vigilia Publishing House.

According to an AI-based review: “The meaning of mid-life crisis in Hungarian is a crisis in the middle of life or, in colloquial language, the panic of closing the gate, which is a typical state of mind for middle-aged people (usually in their 40s and 50s) when they reevaluate their lives, their successes and failures, and are confronted with the idea of passing away, which can lead to identity confusion and uncertainty.”

Do I have everything, or not? Perhaps not quite as I imagined, as we imagined. The images in the exhibition latently raise questions and provide answers about the crisis situation, both personally and globally.
