MegnyitóOpening: March 26, 2026, 7:00 pm

The joint exhibition of Levente Herman and Radu Belcin at Várfok Gallery presents the work of two outstanding figures of Hungarian and Romanian contemporary art. Although created independently of one another, their works reveal a shared sensibility and a similar experiential approach to incorporating elements of reality into painting.

Dusk Between Two Realms unfolds from two distinct visual universes, yet it feels as though we are breathing the same air within these parallel worlds. In his latest series, Levente Herman (1976) evokes a futuristic dystopia of the natural landscape and the built environment. His works draw from the landscape that surrounds him. He creates a world in which the residues of urban and industrial existence are covered by the dust of memory, and where the marks of human presence gradually dissolve.

The works in Radu Belcin’s (1978) series Echoes of Thoughts are characterised by a dynamic interplay between classical painterly themes and memory. Alongside the tradition of classical landscape painting, Belcin employs the dramatic use of chiaroscuro to heighten the emotional intensity of his compositions. The paintings centre on the tension between human presence, dissolving identity, and landscapes veiled in ambiguity.

Dusk Between Two Realms presents the works of two contemporary artists who explore the borderlands between everyday reality and imagination. The figurative elements of the paintings gaze back at the viewer with a sense of familiarity, while their placement and juxtaposition create a dreamlike atmosphere. The dusk descending upon the world does not merely conceal; if we look closely, we may glimpse something suspended at the threshold between reality and imagination.
