At the end of her summer residency, Slovak-Hungarian visual artist Lilla Gombos presents a solo pop-up exhibition featuring new works developed during her stay in Budapest.
Lilla Gombos lives and works in Bratislava. Her practice explores nonhuman entanglements through painterly detail and the magnification of fragments of corporeal forms, including animal morphologies, plant structures, and other material configurations. Removed from their original context and radically enlarged, these motifs lose their immediate recognisability, taking on an ambiguous presence while evoking an almost haptic physicality.
Central to her work is an interest in perception and its conditions, particularly in how anthropocentric modes of seeing shape our visual experience. She holds an MA from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, where she is currently pursuing her doctoral degree. During her residency, she will develop a new body of work alongside a parallel research project, culminating in a written text supported by visual documentation.
