Almost 100 students from ten institutions, including several from abroad, applied. The judges selected 15 winners from 55 entries, which were chosen from a wide range of students from six universities – three in the capital and three in the countryside.
The best entries were selected by a jury of experts. Anna Bálványos, chief curator of the Ludwig Museum, coordinator of the Venice Biennale Office, Brigitta Muladi, art historian, curator of the Ferenczy Museum Centre, Rita Somosi, art historian, curator of the Budapest Photo Festival, Katalin Vizi, executive director of MODEM Modern and Contemporary Art Centre, Dániel Horváth, painter, university lecturer and László Jurecskó, art historian, art dealer, owner of MissionArt Gallery, evaluated the students’ works on the basis of four criteria.
The experts scored all the entries in terms of subject choice (relationship between subject and title), artistic merit (originality and innovation), formal sophistication (the tools used, the quality of technical realisation) and cohesion (the way in which the content and form are integrated).
