The Hungarian University of Fine Arts (MKE) is celebrating 25 years of the Amadeus Art Foundation, with which it has maintained a close professional relationship from the very beginning, with an anniversary exhibition and renewed talent support. To mark its 25th anniversary year, the Foundation is introducing a new funding scheme: for the first time, all students at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts will have the chance to apply for the competition, replacing the previous system. The jury will select the winner from the works presented at the end-of-year student Class Exhibitions. The most outstanding work will receive a prize of 1.000.000 HUF.

The jubilee exhibition is a selection from the collection of Dr Péter Kesseő-Balogh, founder of Amadeus. The exhibition will include sculptures and statues of former Amadeus scholarship holders and paintings by András M. Novák.

The Amadeus Art Foundation aims to support young talent and contemporary art, primarily through cooperation with the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. In recent decades, the foundation has awarded scholarships, established a creative house and run residency and curatorial programmes nationwide.

For many years, Péter Kesseő-Balogh, a successful lawyer and art collector, financed the scholarship programmes from his own fortune, and in 2023 he handed over the management of the foundation to the university. In 2024, under the umbrella of the Foundation, the MKE Friends of the University of Kesse-Balog established a Friends of the University, which awards prizes to recent graduates, supports departmental projects and the publication of university publications. Péter Kesseő-Balogh has retired, but the foundation lives on – the Amadeus Art Prize will be awarded for the 25th time this year.
