Veszprém Spring Exhibition

06. March 2026. – 25. May
MegnyitóOpening: March 5, 2026, 6:00 pm

The Veszprém Spring Exhibition is a series of fine and applied arts exhibitions that has been held for decades. Its important mission is to showcase not only artists connected to the city of Veszprém, but also exhibitors from Veszprém County and the Veszprém-Balaton region.

Organized for many years by the House of Arts in Veszprém, the Veszprém Spring Exhibition will be held every other year from 2022 onwards at the Dubniczay Palace exhibition venue. A new feature is that a thematic exhibition related to the Spring Exhibition will open at the Csikász Gallery. This year, we are presenting the exhibition “Golden Ripening” by ceramic artist Orsolya Pattantyús and glass artist Gergely Pattantyús as part of the Spring Exhibition; they won the individual exhibition award in 2024.

This year, the central theme of the Veszprém Spring Exhibition isArboretum.” The aim of the exhibition is to approach this multifaceted, symbolic, and topical concept using the tools of contemporary art, providing space for different forms of visual thinking. The arboretum (a word derived from the Latin arbor, meaning “living tree”) is primarily a plant collection serving scientific and aesthetic purposes, a botanical garden in which trees and shrubs are presented in a systematic manner, often in a park-like or natural environment. The arboretum symbolizes the relationship between humans and nature, the intention to organize, care for, and preserve, as well as the diversity of wildlife.

With this in mind, we announced our call for entries, which received more than three hundred submissions. The submitted works were evaluated by a professional jury (art historian Katalin Izinger – Szent István Király Museum, Székesfehérvár, and art historian József Zakar – Kossuth Lajos Museum, Cegléd) evaluated the entries and selected 102 works to be displayed in our institution’s exhibition spaces. This year’s selection is extremely diverse in terms of technique: in addition to traditional fine art techniques, it includes textiles, glass, photography, camera-less photography, digital art, sculpture, video, electrography, ceramics, and various installations.
