The Hungarian Art & Business (HAB) Art Centre’s autumn sculpture park selection is based on the work of four sculptors: the works of Antal Malvina, Kristóf Kecső, Gábor Székó and Nóra Szirmai are in exciting dialogue with each other, and form (counter)pairs in a completely traditional way.
The soft, organic and curved shapes used by Antal Malvina and Nóra Szirmai are reminiscent of the body, movement, nature, fruits and insects. These lines enter into dialogue with the geometric, more angular forms that characterise the works of Kristóf Kecső and Gábor Székó.
In addition to the play with forms, there is also a parallel in scale, with small and large sculptures alternating between an experience of intimacy and monumentality in the viewer. Although the emphasis of the exhibition is on the differences and contrasts of the works, soft traits are as much to be found in the angular forms as strength is in the delicately curved pieces. The tension of opposites thus creates a dynamic that is alive with life, and in the dialogue, differences disappear.
