Margit Koller’s project, The Space of ReliefCreating Space for Those Affected by Perinatal Bereavement is a grassroots initiative that aims to create a safe physical and mental space for families who have suffered perinatal loss (early child loss). The ultimate goal is to create a public memorial that helps people process their personal and collective grief through a sensory experience.

The central element of the exhibition is Margit Koller’s 1:1 scale model, in which the tools of sculpture and architecture combine to form a spatial concept based on physical and emotional experience, which may later become the basis for the actual memorial. The model awaits visitors in the lower gallery as a space-based, interactive installation.

The upper space explores the psychological and representational aspects of perinatal loss, connecting with Szilvia Papp’s video series Vivi Hoztam e világra (I Brought You into This World) through the poems of contemporary poets Tamás Bende, Réka Borda, Mónika Ferencz, Gabriella Györe, Eszter Kállay, Lili Hanna Seres, Kinga Tóth, and Ania Jopp’s photo series. Visitors can also view architectural visualizations created by Pi-Hun Architects&Engineers, which project the possible form of the future memorial site.
