As someone living in a big city, I experience being in a crowd in different ways, in different situations. The hustle and bustle of the city amuses me at times, annoys me at others, causes me anxiety and sometimes even a sense of disgust. In my small-scale modular sketches,
I attempt to represent these experiences through sculptural means. The small sculptures created in this way represent the human figure in its generality rather than in its individual character, due to the simplification of the basic forms. Because of this generality and impersonality, I believe that these figures can be used to express the mass of people, the mass man, and my ideas about hir.
The elements of the figures of the mass do not require individual character traits and elaborate details. As in real life, the quality, character and individual history of the individuals who make up the crowd are not important. The human material is created.
