The exhibition includes bronze and wooden sculptures collected in Nigeria in the 1960s and 1970s, from the former collection of Dr. János Pogány, a pharmacist, and his wife.
The latest works by József Csató are related to this material, which are on display in the gallery by courtesy of the Erika Deák Gallery. The pairing is not unusual in art history, the sculptures in the artist’s selection highlight the links between very different cultures.
