In 2010, the first exhibition was organized with a selection of productions from the previous two years, recognizing the gap between the two years, without their work the performances would not happen, the magic would not happen on stage, but their names and work are mostly unknown to the public. The annual summing-up exhibitions, which have been held since 2010, have done and continue to do a lot for the visibility and recognition of the profession.
The organizers of the Theater Olympics exhibition have launched an open call to the entire profession: the designers themselves choose their favorite productions from the last 15 years. The exhibition space will not only feature tableaux, but also original designs, set elements, models, furniture, puppets and costumes, providing a representative overview of the Hungarian scene. For the general public, it is a behind-the-scenes experience to see these works up close, “up close and personal”, in daylight instead of spotlight, admiring the craftsmanship of illusion instead of illusion. Theater is a complex art form, the staging of a performance is the joint, coordinated work of many artists. This exhibition will introduce you to this creative process.
