Anna Nemes (1989, Budapest) immerses herself in the dialogue between time and the body in her recent works. In addition to the usual sensitive representation, the exhibition is concerned with organic forms, abstract paint stains and new representational possibilities formed in the interaction of pigments that obey erosion.

In her working method, metanoia represents the turn of thought and the turn towards the past which approach has greatly influenced the shaping of her figures. By elevating metanoia into her practice, the artist herself explores the past, revealing parts of her figures in different fields of memory. This process can also be compared to an archaeological excavation, in which the memories are only partially brought to our attention, and in which their additions, possible forms and possibilities of fitting are explored in her work.

This reinterpretative work involves a new possibility of embodiment. It is an attempt at a more intense synthesis of anatomy and painting technique. In her way of representation, the human body and its parts appear on the canvas at once organic and yet fragmented way, searching for new points of connection.

Her unmistakable, deliberate, subtle gestures now lend sensitivity to figures whose humanity is volatile yet unquestionable. Their defensive hand postures, lowered chins and arched backs evoke vulnerability, exposure and deep empathy in the viewer. The fragmentation, the liberation of dissolution and the free association are echoed in these paintings by Nemes.
