Now in its eleventh edition, Mirror – Face to Face has become an internationally renowned and respected event in the field of contemporary reproduced graphics. Over the years, in addition to the constant Italian participation, many foreign artists have been present in Vicenza, representing the most important trends in contemporary graphic art.
This year’s special guest is Hungary, a country whose history is interwoven with Italian cultural and artistic life. Mirror – Face to Face will thus become a meeting of old friends in a Europe that is trying to redefine itself at the dawn of the era of digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
Curator Szonja Dohnál’s selection features 27 Hungarian artists (in collaboration with the Ajkai Graphic Workshop and Tibor Csabai), while curators Valeria Bertesina and Roberto Nassi’s selection features 27 Italian artists in artistic dialogue. The aim of the exhibition is to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of contemporary graphic art. The exhibition offers an insight into the world of artists’ studios, showcasing sources of inspiration, popular techniques and striking a balance between tradition and experimentation. The art project is also an opportunity to promote dialogue between artists from both countries.
Visitors can gain insight into the works through a kaleidoscope of subjective perspectives. They will discover commonalities, dialogue and overlaps that transcend individual and national specificities, whether symbolic references, abstract or figurative trends, multimedia approaches or the meticulous use of traditional techniques. Without any thematic constraints or technical limitations, the exhibition also allows for free artistic expression and technical combinations that go beyond the boundaries of graphic design.
