This year, Nagyházi Contemporary organized its third artist residency for young contemporary artists, where five painters and three sculptors were able to create art for two weeks. What makes this artist residency unique is that the invited artists are not asked to donate a work to the organizer.
It is not really autumn yet, but the first rain is an excellent excuse to start dreaming of warmer days again. Summer occupies a special place in our hearts not because the peaches are ripe and Lake Balaton is warm, but because reality seems like a hallucination in the scorching sun. Life sways like a mirage above the scorching asphalt, and our bodies, exposed to the heat, do not resist the illusions. On a summer afternoon, there are no decisions or choices—our consciousness melts like ice in a glass.
The exhibition is a slice of the fantasies of Alsóbogát, the disheveled thoughts of artists driven out into the field. Visions and memories meet on the canvases, with extremely lighthearted, carefree humor. This is not yet freedom, but only madness could bring us closer to it.
Exhibiting artists: Dániel Gantner, Horror Pista, Endre Kecső, Kristóf Kecső, Zoltán Kovács, Ádám Mányoki, Bence Ódor, Vivien Szaka, Levente Leitner
