Operative Photo

The exhibition is based on photographs covertly taken by the former Czechoslovak and Hungarian communist security services, of people under surveillance in the streets of Prague and Budapest. They provide a unique insight into contemporary techniques of covert investigation, and the everyday practices of oppression and intimidation.
