I am fascinated by brain research. From time to time I read a book or an article on the functioning of the nervous system. On one such occasion, I discovered that there is an area of the brain (insula) that performs the function that Art does in the human community: self-observation, labelling and sorting out what is important, typically selected along emotional lines (salience).
That’s what the creative person does: he assembles a “pile of important things”, but it becomes art when a community (by the same method) validates this pile.
That pile is what you see here, which I have titled Show Up Comedy, because like a standup show, I have summarized my observations, philosophizations, and experiences, not exactly avoiding the devices of humor.
