MegnyitóOpening: October 28, 2025, 5:00 pm

The tradition of the textile art triennial is a valuable contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage in terms of domestic and international contemporary textile art, in which the transition between industrial and fine arts genres is realized and balanced. This prestigious textile art exhibition showcases all branches of the profession on an international and domestic level, and has been a tradition in the city of Szombathely for more than fifty years. At the most recent exhibition, held in the summer of 2024, artists from 29 countries on five continents were represented, including 136 Hungarian exhibitors. The target audience of the textile art triennial is nearly 400 professional textile and visual artists, as well as students enrolled in higher education in the arts, for whom participation in the event represents a first-rate opportunity to showcase their work and introduce themselves to the public.

The creator and theme curator of Tű-Rés-Határ (Needle-Edge-Border) was Orsolya Hideg, a costume designer and member of the board of trustees of the Cultural Foundation for Textile Art. The theme was developed by Attila Horányi, PhD, art historian and art critic, who developed the theme – the triennial’s motto attracted works from the broadest professional and artistic spectrum, ranging from traditional techniques to renewable and alternative materials, through the use of unique individual techniques, to the expression of thought-provoking artistic content.
