Almost more than anything else, cognition is an important factor in the contemporary understanding of nature. But the representation and recreation of nature in human space also raises a number of moral and ethical questions. What do we see around us today and what do we want to see? Humanity has become alienated from nature, we live our daily lives in artificial spaces, we are increasingly displacing the real environment from our living space and imitating its spectacle with predictable, planned imitations. This is no accident, of course: nature is not only beautiful and harmonious, but also threatening and unpredictable. The ambivalent relationship between the artificial human environment and the natural world has been a major theme for photographers for decades, and the Urban Jungle exhibition uses six creative approaches to engage the viewer in a reflection on this.
