Károly Klimó (b. 1936) is one of the most consistent bearers of the intellectual legacy of the Hungarian NeoAvantGarde and the European School. His art combines the gestural language of Art Informel with the expressiveness of the Central European Neue Wilde, blended with a uniquely narrative, literarily inspired perspective.

His paintings, prints, collages, and assemblages hover on the border between figuration and abstraction, while being imbued with melancholy, irony, and intellectual playfulness. For Klimó, the image is not merely a spectacle but a space for thought: following the works of Kafka, Artaud, Sade, or Thomas Bernhard, he explores the extremes of human existence.

His precise compositions evoke both theatrical scenes and inner psychological landscapes. The exhibition offers a sensitive insight into an oeuvre in which literature, philosophical reflection, and the painterly gesture form an inseparable unity.
