The latest solo exhibition by the artist duo Lőrinc Borsos, entitled To the Future Child, can be considered a turning point in their creative strategies. Compared to their earliest works, which were mainly political and socially critical, followed by self–mythologising and self–analysing works, their recent works are characterised by more experimental world–building strategies, akin to video and role–playing games.
The artworks and installations presented in ArtMalom are an attempt to create similar speculative realities. However, in addition to the darker aesthetics associated with the “nocturnal side of painting“ that characterise the artists, the material in this exhibition also aims to create a new, more informal and experimental artistic language.
The spaces and objects, built up from set-like installations, offer a glimpse into the magical rituals and props of a post-war techno-tribe. A strange alternate reality that is impossible to tell at first whether we created it for the children of the future or whether they built it for us.
