The final exhibition of Nagykáta-Erdőszőlő International Art Camp which is held for the 18th time this year got the theme The Scent of Doubt.
Our world we are living in today has many uncertainties. We can have questions about almost everything. Today people have no trust in almost anything. DOUBT as a possibility has become as one of the alternative solution for the time of pandemie and this confusing world that surrounds us now. Therefore the idea of taking this famous sentence „COGITO ERGO SUM” by the wellknown french philosopher, René Descartes and transforming into „DUBITO ERGO COGITO, ERGO SUM” came up and DOUBT became the central theme of the Art Camp.
René Descartes thoughts: (…) I resolved to feign that everything which had ever entered my mind was no more truth than the illusion of my dreams. But I observed that, while I was thus resolved to feign that everything was false, I who thought must of necessity be somewhat; and remarking this truth–I think, therefore I am–was so firm and so assured that all the most extravagant suppositions of the sceptics were unable to shake it, I judged that I could unhesitatingly accept it as the first principle of the philosophy I was seeking.
We would like to ask the question how people define themselves today where always there will be somebody who is always questioning everything. Because what can we see and experience around us? Crisis, chaos, and the failure of objectivity. Thus, the doubt can become the core element of our thinking or maybe it has already become. And who can declare that the final conclusions by the doubters are true?
