The exhibition showcases the most significant tendencies of the recent fifty years by presenting a selection of one of the world’s most important collection of modern and contemporary art. Musée national d’art moderne Centre George Pompidou was founded in 1947 with works by Picasso, Braque and Kandinsky among others and presents in Budapest works by Victor Vasarely, Joseph Albers, Yves Klein, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Daniel Buren, Barbara Kruger, Chéri Samba, Marina Abramovc, Braco Dimitrijevc, Louise Bourgeois, Pipilotti Rist, Thomas Ruff etc.

The title of the exhibition refers to an experience visitors quite often face when instead of pre-created patterns they are forced by contemporary artworks to react in a new, inventive, sometimes even exploratory way. Most of the artworks in Budapest represent tendencies which expect this active visitor’s attitude as the most important proviso of artistic reception (Fluxus, Conceptual Art, Political Art). With this exhibition Ludwig Múzeum, Budapest continues the tradition of a long cooperation with the
