Silent image findings from the quest of investigating the medium of painting. Instead of attempts to cross borders, these works aim at the inclusion of “the neglected anatomic characteristics of the always present, conventional image object, perceived by the eye naturally” into the interpretation.
Gábor Erdélyi has been working, as he says, on “the analysis of the narrow environment of the edge and side of the image body” for exactly one decade. The works exhibited mostly emphasis the exposure of the painting; in which invariably the edges, the corners and the traditional space of the painting, the interaction of classic techniques and strange materials dominate. The meeting of the raw matter taken into painting with that of painterliness, as well as the intended metaphors tune the works fine.
