The term Archaikum can refer to the arché, or the elemental experience or state of being. In the arché, one can find phenomena that are about to unfold formally or that are receding into quasi-archetypalism, losing the veil of figurality. At the same time, the archaic also involves an immersion in time.
The stylistic parallels of Csanya’s paintings lead to older modern trends, to abstract expressionism, to gesture painting. At the same time, the atmospheric and visual milieu of Hungary’s semi-historic past permeates these highly sensitive and sensuous works, with their open compositions, their permutations of colour similar to musical sequences.
