Students from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, together with students from three other European art universities, are creating an imaginary building, the European House of Artists, to be projected next year. The international project will take place in the Barcsay Hall of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in September 2024.

The starting point of the project is the three words in the title and the three questions that follow from them, all looking to the future. How do we imagine Europe? What do we think about the future of the artist? What kind of house can we build together? For one week, students from the art universities of Saarbrücken, Dresden, Riga and Budapest will build according to their own rules and will continuously occupy the spaces of the MKE Barcsay Hall with joint actions and performative events.

The project is about the construction process itself, but also about how artists who imagine the art of the future and the Europe of the future will be able to coexist in the house they have created. The work will involve students, permanent assistants and invited guests, and the house will be inaugurated with a planned collaborative performance.
