The exhibition will feature a conceptual documentary photo essay by Martin Wanda, who lives in England, and his father Gábor Martin, juxtaposing their analogue, black and white works of young people having fun in the socialist Hungary of the 1960s and 1970s with their contemporary London.
Wanda photographed young people partying in East London today, while Gábor photographed young people partying in Békéscsaba in the 1960s and 1970s. These images speak of the desire for fun and love, of the universal nature of forgetting the everyday, regardless of age, border or political regime.
The exhibition and the Mai Mano House website feature a playlist of 51 songs compiled by the artists, including hits by Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones and Middlemist Red.
