Convictio Sive Coitus

As part of the artist exchange program between the Budapest Gallery and K.A.I.R. in Košice, Michal Mižu Mitro’s research draws on the tension between the solidity of the earth and the fluidity of water. His starting point was the cave systems and water networks in the Budapest area. This system of geological and hydrological symbols was complemented by motifs from the Marquis de Sade’s erotic drawings, in which the intertwining of human bodies represents this ancient dialogue: the duality of the solid and the fluid, of resistance and surrender.
