Dunaújváros exhibition

10. February 2024. – 14. March
MegnyitóOpening: February 9, 2024, 6:00 pm

This year, the Institute of Contemporary Art will once again host the biennial exhibition of artists and craftspeople with ties to Dunaújváros. Professional artists who are members of a national professional organisation, members of the Újpart Association or full-time students of a university of fine arts or applied arts are invited to participate in the exhibition. The Institute of Contemporary Art continues to make it a priority to provide a permanent presence for artists with local ties. In keeping with tradition, the Municipality of Dunaújváros will offer a prize, and the winner will be proposed by a three-member professional jury.

The image of Dunaújváros is markedly defined by its visual culture: the unique monuments of social-real architecture, fine and applied arts, the many contemporary public artworks, the special Sculpture Park on the Danube bank, featuring works from the International Steel Sculpture Workshop and Symposium, and of course the temporary exhibitions of the Institute of Contemporary Art. But equally important are the activities of the many artists and craftspeople who live in the city or are still associated with it, and who have played a major role in promoting contemporary visual art and shaping the cultural life of the city and the region for decades.

The biennial festival is of special importance in the life of these artists and craftsmen from Dunaújváros, where they can present their latest works and inform those interested in visual culture about the current status of the nationally recognized “Dunaújváros art” – what direction the work of the established artists has taken in the past two years, and who are the members of the new, emerging generation. But these exhibitions can provide important information not only for exhibitors, professionals in the narrow sense of the term and fans of contemporary art, but also for all citizens who are committed to the city, as there is no other exhibition that provides such a comprehensive picture of the current state of the art scene in Dunaújváros, and the ongoing and expected changes in the aforementioned image.
