Jovanovics’ work can be interpreted as illusionistic space-fields created by coloured pencil lines. The lines are in a fixed, strictly formal order which gives a primary role to the colours and the rhythms created by them evoke ideas of musical beats and sequences. In the space defined by these colours, the sense of gravity dissolves and a floating, timeless field unfolds in front of the viewer, counterpointing the heavy reality of the wall around it. And so, the viewer is taken out of the everyday, earth-centred world, and finds himself or herself in a timeless, picturesque, open space enmeshed by metaphysical line structures and ethereal, coloured vibrations.
