The exhibition “eXum” summarizes the central issues of the sculptor Tamás Kis (1978): the visual interpretation of the structure of the cosmos, the relationship between form and order, and the tangibility of the inner energy of matter. The title, derived from the Latin prefix “ex”, evokes layers of meaning of exit, revelation, revelation. The concept can be interpreted both as a mapping of structures beyond the boundaries of the visible world and as a spatial-formal manifestation of creative reflection.

The exhibited works employ the tools of geometric abstraction: the systematic use of three basic elements – circle, triangle, rectangle – refers to the supposed universal structural order of the world. Repetitive formal motifs, central compositions and material-specific structures explore the relationship between matter and idea. The sculptural forms, built from angles that thicken towards the inner core, are plastic analogies of origination, organisation and order.

The angles are individually fixed into the sculptural surface by the artist by hand, and a single work can consist of thousands of elements. This precision work is a months-long process, which for the artist is not only a technical challenge, but also a meditative exercise: the repetition, structured in its monotony, elevates the process of creation into an autonomous, reflective experience.

The materials used – bronze, aluminium, steel – represent both the archaic and the futuristic through their timelessness and technical character. The precision of the casting and the craftsmanship of the workmanship give the material a conceptual content. The fictitious linguistic titling – non-existent but associative words – avoids conceptual definition and offers freedom of interpretation. The works can thus be understood not only as aesthetic objects but also as philosophical structures.
