Flūmen II, an exhibition of recent works by Ákos Bánki, is the artist‘s third solo show at K.A.S. Gallery. Bánki thinks in series and the current exhibition is a sensual continuation of the idea and gesture he started in Barcelona in 2019.
Bánki‘s series are experimental processes of interplay between material, technique, form and colour. Within the framework of the set of rules established at the beginning of the series, the artist consistently moves from image to image, following the path of the creator‘s suffering, at the end of which the painter cathartically releases his images from the rules.
As the painterly process progresses, the colours in the new paintings, vibrating in parallel, dissolve, disappear into each other along with the diluted material, layers disappear, space and time cease to exist, the painterly system set up so far explodes. The process is completed by three paintings as triptychs.
The exhibition at the K.A.S Gallery will include several large canvases by Ákos Bánki, as well as smaller paintings created as part of the series. To coincide with the exhibition, the painter is also publishing a three–page silk–screen portfolio in fifteen copies, accompanied by a unique series of silkscreen prints.
