An exhibition is opening at the Hegyvidék Gallery to mark the 130th anniversary of Jenő Gadányi’s (18961960) birth. Curated by the painter’s grandson, Péter Rainer, the exhibition presents a special selection of works drawn primarily from the family estate and those preserved in the possession of relatives, including paintings and prints that have rarely or never been seen before.

The works on display trace the evolution of his oeuvre from the 1930s until Gadányi’s death: landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and abstract compositions paint a comprehensive picture of one of the most exciting and distinctive artists of 20th-century Hungarian modernism, who—apart from a few minor detours—lived here in the Hegyvidék district from birth until his death.
