Mediumconjurors

While Greenberg dogmatically insisted on pure, staying within your boundaries, style of painting, pop-art artists did not care of these limits. They drifted their work freely from one medium to another making them their own theme of creation.

Since then the various medial procedures have loosened up boundaries among traditional art forms making painting redefine itself and justify its traditional resource system at the same time. So even today, painting has not been dissolved in the surrounding sea of digital media, but it has built in and uses its spectacle while keeping an ongoing coversation with it.

The exhibition called Medium Conjurors line up national works in which other- mainly digital- media’s effects appear. One hand in these works viewers meet the essence of media filtered reality, on the other hand these pieces of arts are often specifically about the media themselves; the mediating agent becomes the performer in them.
