The temporal properties of processes such as rusting or crude oil sedimentation form the basis of Sperling’s aesthetic research represented by his works of art. By exploring the different physical and chronological layers of surfaces, Sperling seeks to reveal reality and establish an aesthetic relationship that emerges from Heideggerian concealment into unconcealment, into unverborgenheit.
