The art of Anna Eszter Tóth is based on the observation of “accidental” situations and visual positions created by man and nature. Experimentation is one of the fundamental methods of her artistic practice. In her most recent works, Anna Eszter Tóth deals with the process of the creation of an image, and she increasingly gives space to the control of the material.
“The smaller, larger patches made with the dripping technique are arranged side by side in a seemingly military order at the moment of their creation, but as they come to life on the wet canvas, they find their own place, shape, and extension in relation to the other patches; they melt, merge, and in some places spread out in a star shape while reminding us of micro-organisms.” (Anna Eszter Tóth)
These are visual signs that reveal the story of their own creation. The previously used pictorial structure is changed, and the empty spaces and homogeneous surfaces are replaced by a sprawling composition that fills the whole canvas.
In addition to her paintings, her ceramics, reminiscent of soft cloth piles, will also be on display. In these artworks, a dialogue with the material and leaving a trace is also present. Anna Eszter Tóth’s bold, structural works push the boundaries of traditional self-expression, reflecting the interconnectedness between everyday moments and universal values.
